With the introduction of High Speed Internet into the backwoods of SW Nova Scotia, I have been able to finally do some uploading of new LMM music to CBC Radio 3's website.

A few years back, Joel Plaskett was nice enough to enter into the Mullet studio and record some demos with me, Benn Ross, Joyce Saunders, Lukas Pearse. Charles Austin was at the controls and it was another Miss Canada set-up and reunion. It was a great experience and 3 songs came out of it: Whirligig, Heavy Clouds, and Search and Rescue. All of us either played and/or sang on the songs. I kinda forget who did what...but all the good guitar parts are Plaskett!

These songs are the first of 10 that will be coming out on a new album...some day. I really hope you take the time to listen to them and enjoy them. Drop me a line sometime at littlemissmoffat@hotmail.com

The best way to get to the songs is to click on the CBC icon in the music section of this website...or follow the links in the previous blog...

I can see you.

I can see you
Now that you are standing here
And you know you're coming through
I can hear you loud and clear

There's so much you've got to say
And there's even more that we can do
Boy you know you've got a way
That's why I've got to get away from you

You say you want to come inside
Acting out your part you're right on cue
You know you have so much to hide
And that's why I'll never know the truth

There's something going 'round
And it's gonna come around
Digging my self out of the ground
I'm not safe but I am sound
And that's why
That's why I

I can see you
And I know what you want to do
But I don't know you
And you don't know what I've been through

There's so much that I could say
But there is no point that I'll get to
Can't see any other way
Except to stay away from you.

Chorus.

I can see you
Now that you are standing here
But I can't feel you
I can't feel anything my dear.

Prairie February

A.M. 2008

Some things are better left kept
Under the lock of regret
To go back now that I see
What I mark you left on me

I would have done it so differently
I should not have let my fear get to me

I expected the worst
I thought the whole damn thing would be cursed
You smiled from the carousel
And you picked me out of my hell

Ferried through prairie a haunting pink moon
Feel the earth humming so clearly in tune

You know what I want to do
Is just lay here with you
Under prairie February
Warm winds are driving through
Way down deep inside
I've tried to feel the way I do
After one moon rise with you

Tell me what's right and what's wrong
'cause right now I'm not that strong
And I can't take my own advice
And you- you've tried everything twice

I've been alone but I've not been lonely
These woods are my love they've kept me

But all I want to do
Now is leave them to find
That laughter
That after you left filled my mind
Way down deep inside
I've tried to feel the way I do
After one moon rise with you

This time I know for a fact
What came before I'll never get back
I'll never get it back.

The Underdog
A.Moffat - 2007

Put on a pot,
Ten O'clock,
Just like I used to do,
For me and you.
You're waking up,
At this witching hour,
The coffee's hot,
But the milk's gone sour,
Yeah the milk's gone sour.

It's time we learn,
That time's all we've got,
How do we get it on our side,
When it looks like you're the underdog,
When it looks like you're the underdog.

You came to me,
With your sad old eyes,
You sighed relief,
And then you said goodbye,
No wait - you didn't even say good-bye.

Don't tell me to move on,
I think I know the stakes,
My heart is stuck right here,
And I just pulled the emergency brake,
Yeah I just pulled the emergency brake.

It's time we learn,
That time's all we've got,
How do we get it on our side,
When it looks like you're the underdog,
When it looks like you're the underdog.

I hope you get what you think you want,
And I want to hope it's what you need,
I think you'll end up just where you started,
But honey that's just where I'll be,
Honey that's just where I'll be,
If you really want to wait and see.

It's time we learn,
That time's all we've got,
How do we get it on our side,
When it looks like you're the underdog,
When it looks like you're the underdog.

Hold On Hold On
-by the great Neko Case

The most tender place in my heart is for strangers.
I know it's unkind but my own blood is much too dangerous.
Hanging 'round the ceiling half the time,
Hanging 'round the ceiling half the time.

Compared to some I've been around but I really tried so hard
That echoed chorus lied to me with its "Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on"

In the end I was the mean girl.
Was somebody's "In Between Girl".
Now it's the devil I love.
And it's as funny as real love.

I leave the party at 3 a.m. alone Thank God
With a valium from the bride - It's the devil I love.
It's the devil I love,
And it's as funny as real love,
And it's as real as true love.

That echoed chorus lied to me with its "Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on"
That echoed chorus lied to me with its "Hold on Hold on Hold on Hold on"
